Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Progressive Die Engineer to support the design and development of progressive dies and automated machinery for custom manufacturing applications. This role requires strong 2D/3D CAD skills, hands‑on collaboration with tool & die makers, and the ability to produce accurate production drawings, layouts, and bills of materials. Projects vary widely, offering continuous learning and exposure to unique machine builds.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with resolving design and production issues.
  • Produce detailed production drawings, layouts, and BOMs.
  • Design progressive dies and automated machinery components.
  • Create 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor.
  • Perform revisions to existing drawings and support layout drafting.
  • Collaborate with tool & die makers throughout the build process.
  • Review reference documents, customer specifications, and engineering input.
  • Interpret dimensional tolerances, quality requirements, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Support manufacturing teams to ensure designs are functional, manufacturable, and cost‑effective.

Qualifications/Must Haves:

  • 3+ years of 2D AutoCAD experience.
  • 2+ years of progressive die design (mandatory)
  • Experience designing automated machines or tooling.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret tolerances.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to collaborate with tool & die makers and manufacturing teams.
  • 3+ years of 3D CAD experience (Inventor preferred, SolidWorks a plus)
  • 4–10 years of experience in progressive die design or automation design.
  • Strong understanding of dimensioning, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
  • All education levels will be considered; equivalent practical experience is fully acceptable.

Preferred Skills:

  • SolidWorks proficiency.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with machine tool equipment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a technical field.
