Payroll & Benefits Accountant – North America | Hybrid Role

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Accountant to support payroll and benefits accounting activities for the North America market. This role reports to the North America Accounting Manager and plays a key role in accurate payroll-related financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls.

Work Model: Hybrid (1–2 days onsite)

Contract Duration: 12 months

Requirements:

  • Partner with the Payroll team as needed.
  • Support internal and external audit requests.
  • Prepare manual intercompany payroll invoices.
  • Generate ad hoc analyses and reports as needed.
  • Review and analyze monthly payroll variance reports.
  • Maintain internal controls and perform controls testing per corporate policy.
  • Investigate variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.
  • Prepare month-end close journal entries, including payroll, benefits, deferred compensation, and employee programs.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-entity payroll environments is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting and journal entry preparation.
  • Experience with SAP, Blackline, and MS Excel (pivot tables, formulas)
  • Familiarity with ADP GlobalView payroll exports (no payroll processing required)
