Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Sales Estimator with deep expertise in commercial roofing, waterproofing, and architectural sheet metal projects. This role blends technical estimating, client interaction, and sales strategy. The ideal candidate has a proven track record preparing competitive bids for large-scale commercial projects, including multi‑million‑dollar contracts.

Location: Remote (U.S. Based)

This is a remote role with required travel to the company's office once per month, as well as occasional job site visits. Candidates within a practical commuting distance or those willing to relocate at their own expense are strongly preferred.

Requirements:

Estimating & Bid Management

  • Conduct site visits to assess project scope, materials, labor, and timelines.
  • Utilize estimating software and digital tools to support takeoffs and proposal development.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Develop detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.

Sales & Client Engagement

  • Present proposals clearly and professionally to clients.
  • Support contract negotiations in partnership with internal teams.
  • Respond to RFQs/RFPs and follow up to secure new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, property managers, and building owners.

Project Coordination

  • Participate in pre‑bid meetings, job walks, and project kickoff sessions.
  • Collaborate with operations and project management to ensure smooth handoff from estimate to execution.

Market Awareness

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor pricing, and market conditions to strengthen estimating strategy and win rates.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and client‑facing skills.
  • Ability to travel monthly to the company office and to job sites as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • 5–10 years of experience in commercial construction estimating, ideally in commercial roofing or architectural metal.
  • Proven experience preparing bids for large-scale, multi‑million‑dollar commercial projects.
  • Strong understanding of roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, built‑up, metal panel systems)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with commercial roofing or construction estimating software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Professional certifications in estimating or roofing (CPE, PREC, NCCER, manufacturer certifications)
