Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial oversight and compliance for federally funded programs, including the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This role focuses on reviewing reimbursement requests, validating expenditures, reconciling costs in SAP, and ensuring compliance with U.S. Treasury and Federal OMB guidelines.

You'll also support SEFA reporting, assist with subrecipient monitoring, and act as a liaison during audits. This is an excellent fit for an accountant with strong analytical skills and experience working with federal or grant‑funded programs.

Contract Duration: 6 months | W2

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8AM–5PM 

Requirements:

Federal Program & ARPA Compliance

  • Review reimbursement draw requests submitted by departments for ARPA‑funded projects.
  • Validate costs against approved contracts, project scopes, and federal guidelines.
  • Ensure expenditures comply with U.S. Treasury rules, OMB Uniform Guidance, and contract terms.

Financial Review & Reconciliation

  • Reconcile costs and payments in SAP (COMPASS)
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and complex reports.
  • Verify that expenditures have been incurred, recorded, and properly supported.

Reporting & Audit Support

  • Assist in compiling federal expenditures for SEFA reporting.
  • Support subrecipient monitoring activities in accordance with federal requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison during internal and external audits related to ARPA or other federal programs.

General Accounting Duties

  • Perform accounting tasks assigned during normal operations.
  • Support AP/AR processes, including work with automated systems.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

  • 3–5 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with automated AP/AR systems.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, including cost accounting.
  • Experience preparing and analyzing complex financial reports.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with OMB Uniform Guidance.
  • Experience with SAP (COMPASS) or similar ERP systems.
  • Prior work in government, public sector, or nonprofit grant environments.
  • Experience with federal grant accounting, ARPA, or other federally funded programs.
