Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Plumbing Healthcare Project Leader to support major healthcare and hospital projects. This role combines technical leadership, project delivery, and client‑facing responsibilities within complex building programs.

The ideal candidate brings deep plumbing engineering expertise, strong healthcare project experience, and the ability to guide teams through design, coordination, and execution. This position requires a balance of technical excellence, mentorship, and stakeholder engagement.

Locations: San Francisco or Los Angeles, CA (Candidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance or willing to relocate independently)

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop plumbing engineering staff across multiple projects.
  • Participate in professional associations (e.g., ASPE) and contribute to industry engagement.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts, including decarbonization and sustainability initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence within the engineering team.
  • Deliver high‑quality engineering work aligned with project goals, schedules, and profitability targets.
  • Support project pursuits by reviewing and preparing proposals, scopes, and technical documentation.
  • Lead plumbing engineering design for major healthcare and hospital projects, including responsible‑charge duties.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships; represent the plumbing discipline in OAC (Owner–Architect–Contractor) meetings.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • 12+ years of proven experience designing building plumbing systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, or equivalent 3D BIM/CAD tools.
  • Ability to map and guide BIM processes across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage work in a dynamic project environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team‑based and client‑facing work.
  • Demonstrated experience leading plumbing design on medium‑ to large‑scale healthcare projects.
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) License in the United States or equivalent plumbing accreditation.
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary BIM workflows, including: Clash Detection, Model Quality Assessment and Coordination using Navisworks or BIM 360.
  • Expertise in: Domestic Cold‑Water Systems, Water Treatment, Domestic Hot Water Systems, Sanitary Drainage and Vent Systems, Storm Drainage Systems, Pumping Systems, Medical Gas Systems, Natural Gas Distribution, Special Fire Suppression (Gaseous, Water Mist) and Acid Waste and Vent Systems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting technical skill development.
  • Strong presentation skills with clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams through complex healthcare design challenges.
