Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Night Shift Maintenance Technician to support and maintain a large‑scale e‑waste shredding system and associated heavy industrial equipment.
This is a specialized maintenance role, not general facility maintenance. The technician will work independently on the night shift, responding to breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the safe, reliable operation of high‑value machinery. The ideal candidate has deep mechanical experience, strong electrical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to diagnose and repair heavy‑duty industrial systems under pressure.

Work Shift: Monday–Thursday, 5:30PM–3:30AM (10‑hour shifts; flexible start/end times)
Requirements:
Advanced Mechanical Maintenance
- Conduct alignment, torque verification, and structural/mechanical repairs.
- Inspect cutter stacks and perform component replacements as needed.
- Complete welding and fabrication work to support equipment integrity.
- Perform repairs on bearings, motors, couplings, shafts, seals, and other high‑wear components.
Electrical & Controls
- Follow strict lockout/tagout procedures at all times.
- Troubleshoot 3‑phase motors and high‑amperage electrical systems.
- Diagnose issues with panels, relays, sensors, overloads, and safety circuits.
- Work with PLC‑controlled equipment (troubleshooting required; programming not required)
Hydraulics & System Integrity
- Monitor hydraulic temperature, pressure, and performance trends.
- Identify leaks, inefficiencies, and early signs of component failure.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, and pressure systems.
Downtime Response & Preventative Maintenance
- Execute preventative maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Document repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities accurately.
- Respond immediately to equipment stoppages and perform root‑cause analysis.
- Communicate clearly with operations and shift leadership regarding equipment status.
Qualifications/Must-Haves:
- Advanced mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Hydraulic systems experience required.
- Welding and fabrication experience required.
- Ability to work independently on the night shift.
- Strong knowledge of 3‑phase electrical systems.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics.
- 7+ years of industrial maintenance experience (heavy machinery required)
- Experience with shredders, grinders, or similar heavy‑duty equipment strongly preferred.
- All education levels will be considered; equivalent practical experience is fully acceptable.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs.
- Comfortable working in a loud, high‑output industrial environment.
- Ability to perform physical repair work on large industrial components.
