Job Description:
Our client is seeking an Engineer V to support large-scale industrial electrical systems across a major energy operator. This role requires deep practical experience in power engineering, electrical reliability, grounding, and system troubleshooting within natural gas, pipeline, petrochemical, or similar heavy industrial environments.
You will serve as a senior technical authority for electrical engineering design, maintenance, and reliability programs. The position supports project execution, technical services, and enterprise‑wide electrical system performance. Independent decision‑making is valued, and your work will directly influence safety, reliability, and operational continuity.

Locations: Houston, TX or Tulsa, OK | Hybrid (4 days onsite/1 day remote)
Requirements:
- Ensure strict adherence to OSHA, DOT, and internal safety policies.
- Lead complex engineering tasks and guide teams on projects with major scope and business impact.
- Develop, interpret, and implement electrical standards, specifications, and engineering practices (e.g., grounding design, electrical area classification)
- Provide expert technical leadership on electrical design, maintenance strategies, and reliability improvements for HV/MV systems.
- Conduct advanced power system studies, including short‑circuit, arc flash, load flow, protective device coordination, harmonics, voltage drop, transient motor start and power factor correction.
- Diagnose complex electrical issues and provide technical guidance to field engineers and operations teams.
- Evaluate engineering packages for compliance with codes, standards, and project objectives.
- Develop and optimize preventative maintenance programs for electrical equipment and systems.
- Deliver technical presentations and support cross‑functional teams on compliance, training, and improvement initiatives.
- Support resource planning and ROI considerations for major engineering initiatives.
- Influence business and industry trends through subject‑matter expertise in power engineering.
Qualifications/Must-Haves:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general PC skills.
- Strong experience in technical and engineering documentation.
- Hands‑on experience with electrical grounding systems and protective relays.
- 15+ years of electrical engineering experience in natural gas, petrochemical, pipeline, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong background in power systems, including design, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Deep understanding of electrical system reliability principles and maintenance best practices.
- Experience with electrical system operation, maintenance, and engineering design activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Engineering Technology accepted)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ETAP or similar power system modeling tools.
- Project management experience in industrial or energy environments.
- Experience mentoring engineers or supporting multidisciplinary project teams.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical/Power (preferred but not required)
